FLOWER BOMB
MEDIUM: DIGITAL PAINTING/MANIPULATION
SIZE: 55.56CM X 55.56CM
completed: November 2016
exhibition textFlower Bomb is a digital piece inspired by the Expressionism movement. Using Adobe Illustrator, I wanted to create a piece that portrays the female body in a way that is deemed beautiful yet vulnerable. Vulnerability can be portrayed as the women in the piece has her body almost fully exposed. Beauty, grace, and elegance can also be interpreted with the three flowers included.

artistic inspiration
For this piece I decided to go with an artist that I wouldn't usually go to for inspiration. In this painting, Frida stated her faith that all life can join in a single flow. In this painting, Frida is depicted as her torso opens up like a window and gives birth to a vine. It's her dream of being able to give birth as a childless woman. Unlike Frida, for my piece I did not want to convey symbolism of fertility rather just the beauty of femininity.

reflection
While this isn't one of my favorite pieces that I have done, I still am content with how this piece turned out. Adobe Illstrator is one of my faovrite things to use when creating pieces, so completing this project wasn't necessarily challenging and I enjoyed it a lot. With completing this piece, I feel like I have improved with being able to outline and draw using a mouse/stylus rather than traditionally using pen/pencil on paper, broadening the techniques I can use for future projects.
